Blair McMillen premieres Nicole’s latest piece at the Mostly Modern Festival

  • Arthur Zankell Hall 815 North Broadway Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866 United States (map)

Blair McMillen has established himself as one of the most versatile and sought-after pianists today. The New York Times has described him as “riveting,” “prodigiously accomplished and exciting,” and as one of the piano’s “brilliant stars.”

He premieres Nicole’s latest piece to begin a/new for prepared piano and fixed media at the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Program note: This music is in search of a new beginning — for the year, for life, for humanity. A voice echoes with the weight of world and beckons forward — sometimes clearly, sometimes opaquely veiled, but ever present despite calm or chaos.

From The Secular Masque
by John Dryden

All, all of a piece throughout;
Thy chase had a beast in view;
Thy wars brought nothing about;
Thy lovers were all untrue.
'Tis well an old age is out,
And time to begin a new.
